A theme drops
A broad new prompt arrives every Sunday. Interpret it your own way—there is never just one right project.
↘Hack Club YSWS · 12 weeks
A 12-week coding challenge for wonderfully over-curious people. A new theme every Sunday. Ship software by Friday. Turn your hours into RadTokens.
RadShips is a 12-week You Ship, We Ship program under Hack Club. Every Sunday, a brand-new software theme lands in your inbox.
By Friday, make and ship a software project around it: an app, game, tool, website, or bot. Approved projects earn RadTokens based on the time you put in.
RSVP for RadShips ↗One sharp deadline every week. Make software, learn a ton, and ship it.
A broad new prompt arrives every Sunday. Interpret it your own way—there is never just one right project.
↘Build solo or with friends. Make one big project, five small ones, or a bunch of experiments—there is no project limit.
↘Submit a working project and log your hours before the weekly deadline. Once the theme closes, it cannot earn RadShips credit later.
↘Approved hours become RadTokens. Redeem them for prizes in the growing RadShips shop, then do it all again next Sunday.
Web apps, games, CLI tools, bots, APIs, browser extensions, automations, and other software projects made around that week’s theme.
Didn’t finish by Friday? Keep building it or take it to another YSWS if that program allows it—but it cannot earn RadTokens for the closed RadShips theme.
Ask in #radships on Slack or DM @rudragoel before you spend a week wondering whether your idea qualifies.
Every one of the 12 weeks follows the same loop. You decide how ambitious the project is; the deadline keeps it moving.
A broad theme drops. Read it, sketch an idea, and choose a software project that fits. One theme can mean completely different things to different people.
Work on one larger project, several small ones, or quick experiments. There is no project limit and no required number of hours—just build something you can ship.
Ship your completed software project, then log the hours you spent on it. When the weekly theme closes, new submissions for that theme are no longer eligible for RadTokens.
Once your hours are approved, they become RadTokens. Spend them in the RadShips Shop; new themed prizes can appear as the season progresses, while previous rewards remain available.
Bring your half-formed software ideas. We’ll bring a new reason to ship every week.
Anything and however many software projects you like: apps, games, websites, tools, bots, and more. Each project must be shipped by Friday, with its hours logged, to count for that week.
Yes, if you want to redeem the hours for RadTokens. If you do not finish in time, you can take the project to any other YSWS that is willing to take it.
No. A little AI help for debugging is allowed, but the major goal here is for people to actually code and learn.
Finished, approved software projects earn RadTokens based on the hours you log. Spend them in the RadShips prize shop.
